Anachronisms that have found their places in julius caesar and other works:
A cinematic example
Director Brian Helgeland’s A Knight’s Tale is a medieval tale full of knights in shining armor, damsels in distress, and dozens of anachronisms. Just as Shakespeare used anachronisms throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Helgeland filled his film with anachronisms to make the movie more approachable and relatable to a 21st century audience. He uses the opening scene, a medieval joust with a modern-day rock song, “to make the audience realize [medieval people] were as into their sport as we are into ours” (Helgeland). The director also filled A Knight’s Tale with modern hairstyles and language to strengthen the viewer’s connection with the characters.
