Caesar would have made an excellent ruler of Rome because of his decisive thinking, martial ability and kindness. He would have been a great king if he had accepted the crown before his tragic death. He was a very bold man that was always very forward with his decisions. He, also, was ruthless in the conquering of territory. Caesar "brought many captives home to Rome [w]hose ransoms did the general coffers fill (III.ii.88-89) from his expeditions. These prisoners of war filled the treasury which boosted the economy for the Roman citizens. Caesar had a big heart. If he saw "that the poor have cried, Caesar [would have] wept" (III.ii.91). He shows how much he cares for his people in his will. In his will, he states that for "every Roman citizen[,] he gives [them] . . . seventy-five drachmas" (III.ii.242-243). He also left his people, "his private arbours and new-planted orchards" (III.ii.244-245). He cared about his people enough to give them his private parks. Julius Caesar would have made an excellent king for Rome, had he been given the opportunity.
